Good curry, good value for money
On arriving at the hotel, I was told that it was a 5 minute walk by the hotel staff from Essex road train station but this was more like a 15 minute- 20 minute walk carrying my case, so would have been better to have got a cab. Area is not great but near to where I was going. The hotel receptionist was unfriendly and a bit abrupt clearly wanting the money before I had chance to come through the door. The room itself was dark, small and extremely hot as the heater was on full, the window was nailed shut, but a fan was provided to circulate the hot air.It was noisy at night because it was on the road side, and you had to hold the shower head in the shower because it was broken. The curry they serve was good and was good value for money. The breakfast was continental as I had expected but did not offer a great deal of choice, and it would have been good to have had a decaffinated option.

The room was neat, with central heating, an iron, tea and coffee making equipment. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was freshly prepared. Loved the location near public Transport. Plus, it was close enough to cafes, London, and the Tube.

The location as we were visiting friends in the area
The bed was hard, the room was tiny, there was no light in the bathroom, the lift seemed very unsafe, the floor in the room sloped downwards

Tommy Miahs Raj Hotel on the Essex Road in Islington is a perfectly good value but decent quality hotel in North London. It's extremely well served by public transport from Angel tube station [which, by the way is on the Northern line not the Victoria line] and is only 5mins away from all the bars/restaurants that area offers. It's also very close to Essex Road train station which takes you straight into the City eg Moorgate. The room was clean, the shower room was perfectly adequate [if a little small] and the bed was fine though the mattress was a tad thin. To be honest, for the cost and taking into consideration it's in a very handy location in London, this is a good value hotel for a short stay.

Convenience and taxi co. Next door.
On one morning we had a crumpet that was mouldy and it was pointed out to the reception staff and all the crompets were removed. But no serving staff came to apologise, the lady at reception did when I originally complained. I am unsure if I could recommend this hotel.

I found the location suitable with easy access to so many places. The beds were comfortable and the Wi-Fi worked well in my room. I enjoyed my time there and the friendly staff.
The hotel had some noise issues from adjoining rooms. The room was dated, and there were areas needing attention.

The hotel rates that we paid represented good value for money. The Hotel was clean and very well located with bus stops just outside the Hotel giving an excellent service to and from the City centre.
The windows in our room, which was street facing, were single glazed. The noise level could be significantly reduced if the windows were triple glazed. Also while there was a mirror in the en-suite there was none in the bedroom itlesf which caused annoyance to my wife. The lighting in the en-suite was poor.

Cozy atmosphere, strategic location for transportation, vibrant local dining options
Rooms could benefit from extra bedside tables and improved shower space!!! Outdated furniture, broken fixtures, and signs of neglect suggest that this hotel requires a good bit of refurbishment!!!
